(NEW) Online Training – Creative Techniques for Anger Management with Children in Play Therapy: A Force for Positive Change

November 12 Login to Zoom 8:30am ; Training 8:45am-4:15pm (EST) $169, 6 CEUs Presenter: Joanne Vizzini, PhD Zoom.us, MD + Google Map

Treating angry feelings and behaviors in a creative, positive way for children challenges mental health providers daily. In this workshop we will explore how creative techniques in play therapy act as mediators, a bridge, and a pathway to a force for positive change.

We will process popular theories, such as Polyvagal, Sensorimotor, and Somatic Experiencing and learn how they can help clients achieve Emotional Intelligence. Participants will learn how music, singing, and drumming provide useful techniques for calming raw rage. Learning how to incorporate Dance and Movement Therapy will offer effective means for soothing frazzled nerve endings. We will also explore how the use of Art Therapy, client-centered play and directive play can allow a child’s creative energy to come forward naturally.  In addition, we will look at the ways in which digital experiences and toys bring play to life.

Participants will learn how to help parents/caregivers, families, and children deal effectively with the variations of anger and its expression through Psychodrama and Puppet Therapy. These dramatic arts aid the release of the narrative underneath children’s anger. We will also explore Meditative practices of yoga and breathing, as well as various types of meditation to provide daily reminders of the child’s body – mind – spirit connection. Spirituality, often forgotten, is vital to many families, and can often be incorporated into the healing process as well. Through experientials, participants will receive feedback about the use of various creative techniques.
