In this engaging and interactive training, therapists will learn the basics of sandtray therapy and how to use it to help clients grow and heal from trauma. The training will demonstrate how to introduce sandtray techniques to clients, guide them through a session, and successfully help them work towards their therapeutic goals using this expressive modality. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from demonstrations as well as personally experience creating and processing their own sandtray.

This unique presentation and experiential exercises are intended to benefit both therapists with no previous knowledge of sandtray as well as therapists with more experience.

Learning Objectives

Participants will learn the underlying principles of what makes Sandtray therapy effective and practice implementing directive and non-directive techniques. At the end of the training, participants will:

  • Understand the basic neuroscience and underlying principles of how Sandtray interventions are effective
  • Be able to facilitate the three stages of every sand tray intervention
  • Have learned a wide variety of applications and ways to help deepen clients’ healing using sand tray
  • Know how to create and gather the instruments and materials needed to start using Sandtray Therapy with clients in therapy
  • Experience and be able to explain how sand tray interventions facilitate the emergence of unconscious material into awareness
