Puppet and Doll Therapy: A Road Map for Healing Affect Dysregulation in Families

April 24 Breakfast 8:15am-8:45am   Training 8:45am-4:00pm $169, 6 CEUs Presenter: Joanne Vizzini, PhD Woodholme Country Club, 300 Woodholme Ave. Pikesville, MD 21208 United States + Google Map

Play therapy is Daring, Delightful, and Dazzling when a clinical space includes dolls and puppets! Children, teens, and adults who portray a story using puppets or dolls, often project their own story in a telling that tells all. At times, the therapist becomes a sacred witness, handing the client a comforting image to be caressed, stroked or even to be thrown or crushed. The impact of trauma requires creative means to heal.

Familiar characters or furry friends awaken the brain that is keeping the client’s body, mind and spirit from their innate harmony and their prediction that the world is safe. Potential for JOY is abundant, once the new pathways of self-compassion are nurtured.

In this workshop, you will be given many practical ideas and experiences, along with videotaped clinical material and concrete handouts. Discuss your own cases.

EXPECT TO LAUGH! Dare to ask your clients about what doll/puppet they have, or had as a child. PLEASE BRING a few puppets/dolls from your own history and/or from your collection. If not, Dr. V has plenty to share with you!
