Workshop Description

The purpose of the final class in Level II is to crystallize and synthesize many of the experiential modalities that have been taught throughout the program.  Participants will be invited to prepare ahead of time either a brief case scenario or specific questions regarding a client and their challenges in treatment. The entire Level II faculty, as well as the Level II students, will all be given opportunities to weigh in, offering different perspectives on a variety of modalities that could be incorporated into the work. Feedback will focus on offering a variety of creative approaches to address the identified client issues, as well as how to address difficulties in the therapeutic relationship.  We will explore modalities including parts work, using art therapeutically, psychodrama techniques, movement, somatic accessing, breath work, visualization, focusing and guided imagery, and spirituality.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify and implement at least four different creative modalities that can be used to help trauma survivors in their healing journeys.
  2. Describe at least three strategies that can be used to address “stuckness” in the therapy process.
  3. Implement at least three strategies to address issues of transference that occur in the therapeutic relationship.
  4. Implement strategies that can help to enhance and strengthen the therapeutic relationship.
  5. Explain how to seamlessly shift gears and introduce a new paradigm when the one that has been used is no longer effective.
