Workshop Description:

Strengthening our supervisory skills is more than a “check-box” on our license renewal.  Instead, it is a career-long journey of knowing ourselves, our profession, our colleagues, and staying abreast of changes in the human condition.  As leaders in a profession that has experienced abrupt change over the past three years, it’s imperative for us to re-examine our roles, and expand our capacity for supporting others.

This half-day course is an opportunity to check the “pulse” of your life as a supervisor. Together we will ask, (and answer) some of the burning questions that supervisors are facing, including our role in mentoring telehealth therapists, establishing healthy boundaries with our supervisees, modeling healthy therapeutic interventions, and exploring potential ethical dilemmas.

In the safety of other supervisors in our field you will:

- Honor your value.

- Understand the key elements of supervision, and the key qualities of a strong supervisor.

- Learn to release notions of perfection and shame in supervision.

- Name some of your underdeveloped areas of continued growth.

- Seek guidance and support other supervisors around challenging cases.

- Learn to acknowledge the teaching in every clinical experience.

*This class meets the requirement for clinicians who need to maintain their supervisory status and can also be applied towards the 12 hours required to obtain Board-Approved Supervisor Status.

Learning Objectives:

1. Discover how to honor your value.

2. Understand the key elements of supervision, and the key qualities of a strong supervisor.

3. Learn to release notions of perfection and shame in supervision.

4. Name some of your underdeveloped areas of continued growth.

5. Seek guidance and support other supervisors around challenging cases.

6. Learn to acknowledge the teaching in every clinical experience.

What people are saying about this workshop:

Alexis Bruce
LCSW-C

Sabrina was very personable and allowed you to discuss situations that often made you feel vulnerable if you were to share it with other leaders/supervisors. I liked how she allowed you to feel safe and reflect on how to best address supervisory issues. I love the questions to ask Supervisees on what they will find helpful out of supervision, being better at focusing on my own self-care prior, during, and after supervision, and exercising Supervision as a ritual.

Jessica Prentice

Sabrina was a wealth of knowledge and experience and her presentation style is comforting, making it easy to be engaged even through zoom. I appreciated her and the training immensely!

Michele Fleming
LCSW-C

Sabrina is a great educator and speaker. She is a real person and keeps it real!

Anne Bean
LCSW-C

I loved the ideas for enriching supervision to encompass holistic well being.

Michele Fleming
LCSW-C

I loved all of it! The real life examples of concepts, breaking into groups and processing an issue, the reminder from Sabrina that I am human and no one expects me to have all of the answers. This felt like sitting with a friend and drinking a dirty chai and feeling the support and nurturing while also gaining knowledge.

Amy Heilman
LCSW-C

I especially liked looking at supervision from a framework of 4 archetypes and their shadow sides; using heart, hand and mind to encompass all aspects of supervision; viewing supervision as engaging, fun, supportive and as a relationship, not just as a teaching experience.

Diane Sancilio
LCSW-C

[Sabrina is] Engaging, dynamic, thought provoking and fun!

Amy Heilman
LCSW-C

[Sabrina is] Very engaging and passionate about supervision! Very relatable and encouraged self-reflection.
