Hetty Barnett is a clinical social worker, therapist, supervisor, teacher, mentor and healer. She is the founder and director of Four Corners Counseling & Well-Being, an award-winning IFS-grounded group psychotherapy practice based in Silver Spring, Maryland, serving clients and supporting colleagues in the DMV and across the country.
Hetty holds an MA in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago and an MA in Theology from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, with post-graduate training in the integration of spirituality and clinical practice. She is a licensed clinical social worker in Maryland and the District of Columbia, and a Registered Supervisor in Maryland. Hetty is a strong advocate and passionate teacher of the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model of individual therapy and the IFS-based Intimacy from the Inside Out model of couples therapy. She is a certified (Level-3) IFS therapist and an IFS Approved Clinical Consultant, has been on staff for IFS and IFIO trainings for the past ten years. Hetty is a guest lecturer for George Mason University and the University of Maryland. Hetty is also a proud small business owner and appreciates the creative pursuits of both mastering the craft of IFS & IFIO therapy and building a positive and encouraging work culture for her team.
As an IFS therapist, Hetty loves to witness the transformation that occurs when clients begin to practice their life skills from a compassionate "Self-led" space. She enjoys working with individuals seeking more joy and confidence in life, and with couples yearning for a deeper connection and a more satisfying relationship. Her strengths-based and mindfulness-focused approach is effective for addressing trauma, relationship, and self-esteem issues.
