Workshop Description:
In this presentation we will explore the integration of expressive art modalities into daily practice to help clients learn to regulate their nervous system and reconnect with their bodies. We will highlight practical interventions and examine how they can be effectively used. This workshop will teach why using expressive art modalities is an important clinical intervention to helping trauma survivors. A variety of techniques will be introduced throughout the day to include movement, breath work, art, journaling, and collage.
The workshop will be both didactic and experiential, allowing participants the opportunity to not only learn a variety of techniques, but to practice them throughout the day. We will discuss how to introduce trauma informed interventions, pacing them, as well as how to help clients work within their optimal window of tolerance. Come with an open mind and be ready to engage throughout the day with your creative parts! You will leave this workshop ready to employ these strategies in your practice.
