Workshop Description:

In this presentation we will explore the integration of expressive art modalities into daily practice to help clients learn to regulate their nervous system and reconnect with their bodies.  We will highlight practical interventions and examine how they can be effectively used. This workshop will highlight the importance of using movement, breath work, art, journaling, and collage.

The workshop will be both didactic and experiential, allowing participants the opportunity to not only learn about a variety of techniques, but to practice them throughout the day. We will discuss how to introduce the interventions, how to pace them, as well as how to help clients work within their optimal window of tolerance. Come with an open mind and be ready to engage throughout the day with your creative parts!  You will leave this workshop ready to employ these strategies in your practice.

Learning Objectives:

1. Explain and implement breath work to address helping clients regulate their nervous system.

2. Learn how to implement movement into clinical sessions, to help clients regulate the nervous system.

3. Describe at least two different art techniques designed to help clients connect with their bodies in a more positive and mindful way.
