Trauma and chronic stress are more than just mental health issues—they are at the root of almost 80 percent of all chronic illnesses in our culture. This indicates the need for mental health professionals to look beyond the mind, and to explore the body and spirit with their clients.
Workshop Description
This workshop is an introduction to the art and science of integrative mental health. It blends current research with the ancient practices of meditation, nutrition, prayer, and movement. You will leave with an increased awareness of the mind-body connection, along with practical skills to use with both your clients and yourself.
Learning Objectives
Understand the connection between stress, chronic illness, and health.
Understand the physiological impact of prolonged stress.
Learn to incorporate physical, emotional, and spiritual assessment tools into your clinical practice.
Learn how to guide clients in incorporating self-care into their healthcare.
Learn at least five interventions that incorporate nutrition, movement, prayer, breathing, and imagery into your talk therapy practice.
“All was useful, interesting, insightful and memorable. Sabrina was genuine, sharing good techniques and strategies.” — Mary H
