Workshop Description:

In this interactive workshop, join positive psychologist and author Jonah Paquette in exploring six distinct forms of connection that can enhance our mental health, physical health, relationships, and more. In this new workshop, attendees will explore concepts including social connection, the science of gratitude, the power of ecotherapy, the importance of awe, and more. In addition to a review of the research behind these ideas, attendees will explore and discuss specific strategies to help clients incorporate them into their lives in order to combat depression, anxiety, loneliness, and trauma.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify the key benefits of happiness to our physical health, emotional well-being, interpersonal relationships, and job performance.

2. Explain key barriers to well-being including the negativity bias and genetic factors that may impede a person’s happiness.

3. Employ six research-backed principles for well-being including social connection, gratitude, ecotherapy, awe, cultivating meaning, and more.

4. Administer specific practices to cultivate these 5 principles in clients describe how to integrate these effectively into treatment.

5. Explore specific areas of the brain linked to positive emotional states, and learn techniques to increase neuronal firing to these regions in order to create lasting change through the process of positive neuroplasticity.
